BIRTHDAY GIRL – Ruth Roberts celebrated her 102nd birthday Sept. 11 with friends at Community Care Center. Present for the occasion were (front row from left) Ceclia Kreiensieck, the honoree and Melva Pellegrin; (back from left) Kim Elliston, Latasha James, Tina Pellegrin-Tryon, Missy Nikodim, Elaine Sauer, Paul Hooper and Sue Stone. Ruth was born Sept. 11, 1915, near the Cobb Community on the Sac Osage River near Roscoe. Later, she and her family moved closer to Roscoe where Ruth attended Tower Grove and other elementary schools. Ruth had five brothers and three sisters. Ruth helped with many chores. One year, she helped her dad stripping cane that made 1,040 gallons of molasses. Sweet memories. Ruth married her husband of 50 years. Claude Roberts, in Nevada but lived most of her life around Roscoe. The couple had six children, 24 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
