Cauldron of weight-loss elixir

TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Firefly Services building, on Thursday, May 29, for their regular weigh-in and meeting.

Our leader, Warren, called the meeting to order, Carol led us in singing “Welcome New Member.” We sang that because we were so pleased to welcome a returning member, LJ so glad to see you back with us.

Warren led us in our TOPS and KOPS Pledges, and Roll Call.

Fourteen members weighed in today. We had a gain of 16.8 and a loss of 7.4 giving us a net gain of 9.4 pounds. Our best loser was Erin with a loss of 2.2 pounds. Way to go Erin.

Warren had the program today; he brought his cauldron and showed us how to brew up his amazing weight loss elixir. He started with the most important part of weight loss, water; water is your friend. Then to his amazing weight loss elixir he added vegetables, not just any vegetables he used carrots, green beans, cabbage and broccoli. The next ingredient was fresh fruit, blueberries, strawberries, apples, then he added beans for protein. He said he did not put much bread or pasta in his magic potion, just a bit. He then told us the magic very special ingredient; WILL POWER.He encouraged members to follow his magic potion for weight loss.

He then talked about what are Heart Healthy foods? Most Doctors recommend the Mediterranean Diet, what exactly is that? It consists of Fish, whole grains, healthy fats, nuts and seeds and non processed foods.

Next week the program will be May awards.

Marble game, there is $12.50 in the pot.  Linda C won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.

Elections are coming up. Each member is asked to fill out a form to indicate what they will be willing to do to assist in the various parts of the chapter meeting. Not only is there a Leader, Co-Leader, Secretary, Treasurer and weight recorders there needs to be members to make coffee, clean up after the meeting, talk to new members and guide them in starting in TOPS, taking photos, sending cards and many more things.

There was a discussion when elections would be held, Laura made a motion to hold the election on June 12, Jan seconded the motion, motion carried.

We will go over by-laws on June 26. Please look over the current ones and make suggestions as to any changes you would like to see made.
