Cedar County Memorial CEO Jana Witt announced at the regular monthly board meeting on Monday, July 18, that Dr. Barbara Chilton is scheduled to assume duties at the Medical Mall on Monday, Aug. 29. Dr. Chilton, a board certified pediatrician, is a retired Navy Commander and has practiced medicine for 28 years, primarily in the Joplin area. She will do pediatrics and some family medicine.

All Board members were present – Julia Phillips, Carla Griffin, Johnny Walker and Jan Neale with Judy Renn presiding. Also present were Hospital Attorney Bryan Breckenridge, Recording Secretary Terri Heitz, CFO Carla Gilbert and Witt. CNO Drew Alexander was absent.

Gilbert reported that revenue for June was $1,952,155 with total operating expenses of $1,110.027. Total deductions from revenue were $682,529. She reported a profit off of operations of $171,850 and a net profit of $192,352, after taxes, interest and donations..

The board approved accounts payable in the amount of $613,566.94.

The board voted to declare as surplus property a laboratory refrigeration unit, a Toshiba battery backup and the old chiller and boiler that were recently replaced.

In Drew’s absence, Witt gave the nursing report. She said that Drew hopes to have the Stroke and Stemi application completed soon. There are three RN positions open at this time.

Witt said that the hospital billboards on Hwy. 54 need to be replaced. An employee committee worked on a new design for the billboard which Witt shared with the board.

The board went into executive session upon returning from closed session, they announced that they had approved the Medical Staff appointment of Dr. Morris Glover, Life State ER physician.
