The Cedar County Historical Society meeting on Thursday, Jan.19, was called to order by President Judy Nichols. Other members present Vice President Bob Phillips, Assistant Treasurer Shirley Potts, Interim Secretary Connie Maupin, Luella Phipps, Kenneth Potts, Chris Barber and new member, Arlin Cargill.

Connie Maupin will take charge of redeeming Best Choice bar codes and will research various avenues for recycling used ink cartridges.

Membership again discussed reprinting of “Historical Sketches of Cedar County” and “Lyceum Series: Cedar County and the Civil War.”

Shelving from the old Fair Play library has not yet been picked up due to the weather and lack of a trailer.

A motion was made, seconded and carried to make a donation to the museum building fund in honor of Bernice Root who was the mother of member Bob Estes.

Luella Phipps donated a 1972 almanac from Carender Drug and a bottle which reads “Dr. W. B. Caldwell’s Laxative Senna.”

Jennifer Bland donated a framed certificate, personalized stationery and an envelope from Dr. Richter.

Our next meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, in the museum at 106 West Davis Street in Stockton. Our meetings are open to the public.
