I hope Mother Nature is done with her tantrum and our weather settles down! Please take care of your health as some of you deal with storm and wind damage and now heat!
The Spring Bake sale went very well thanks to our wonderful members who provided such a variety of items! Pies, cookies, brownies, candy, flavored pop corn, etc. were very popular and sold quickly! The income from the sale was $539, including donations. That will be added to the total amount that will be donated to the hospital by our purchasing something from their wish list this fall. Thank you to each and every one that helped to make the event so successful! Bake sales are a great way that we can all support our Auxiliary and our hospital.
The June 26th General meeting was quite informative with our guest speaker, Debbie Vickers, sharing information on the diverse services available from West Central Agency and giving us a tour of the Liston center. There will be hand outs in the gift shop if you missed the meetin, or if you would like more information. They can always use volunteers to help with the variety of services they provide to the area. The fresh chocolate chip cookies, courtesy of the hospital dietary department, were delicious! The new shirts, courtesy of the hospital, were distributed. If you were absent you can find your shirt in the gift shop with your name on it. Please check your name off of the list when you pick it up.
The slate of officers for the new year was presented at the general meeting and hearing no nominations from the floor, the slate was elected as presented. Officers will be installed at the September General meeting and will be: Co-chairmen – Joyce Dawson and Jean Wernel; Secretary -Linda Maberry; Treasurer – Peggy Carter; Gift Shop Treasurer – Sandra Eaves; Gift Shop trainer & computer tech – Teri Biddlecome; Gift Shop scheduler- Linda Maberry; and Trustees -Nedra Gargus, Sandi Eaves, and Jeannie Hertzberg. Advisors to the Board are the out-going co-chairmen Sherry Wiseman and Linda Bartkoski. Thank you to our outgoing advisor, Lana Sue Jones, and to these ladies for volunteering to serve the Auxiliary.
The Back-to-School Bake Sale was so popular last year that we plan to hold another one! The date will be August 19, Tuesday, from 10 to 12 or when we run out of goodies! You will receive a reminder closer to the date but you may want to be thinking about what delicacies you will bring for the sale and how you will entice buyers with decoration and presentation! Snack mixes, flavored pop corn, brownies, cupcakes, and of course pies are always very popular. Thank you for packaging some items in individual containers to make it easier to manage for customers who might only want one or two cupcakes etc. Use your imagination and make it delicious. Please have items to the lobby by 9 a.m. Tuesday morning or the day before to the Gift Shop from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thank you in advance for your support!
Yes, we can use more gently used books donated for the gift shop, and we always need more volunteers. Thank you very much to our awesome volunteers who make the gift shop run like clockwork….Teri Biddlecome who does the gift shop staff training and Linda Maberry who does the scheduling; Sandi Eaves who pays the bills, and Hollee Walker and Jennifer Koca who shopped; and our volunteers who show up every week in spite of heat or cold: Allanette White,
Joyce Dawson, Jeannie Hertzberg, Linda Maberry, Jean Wernel, Sherry Wiseman, and Linda Bartkoski.
Thank you also to our great communications committee with Nedra Gargus and Lana Sue Jones, who make calls to members to remind us of upcoming events.
I just learned that Sheryl Ann Walker and Dot Soldavini are also on the calling committee. Sherry and I are very appreciative of all of our members and want to thank Dot and Sheryl for helping out with the communications.
We add new members to the auxiliary at any time but especially in September when the new program year begins so be sure to talk to friends and neighbors who might be interested in becoming a member and any new comers to the community
Have a wonderful, safe summer, and get rested up for the August Bake Sale!
Thank you
Linda Bartkoski
