Around 100 attended the Cedar County Soil and Water Conservation District’s (SWCD) Annual Dinner Meeting April 4, 2019 at the

Stockton United Methodist Church. An outstanding meal, catered by Elaina Daniel with Bake Me Happy was enjoyed by all.

One of the main events is our Awards Presentation starting with our Annual Cedar SWCD Poster Contest. This year, we recognized the

Cedar County 3rd, 4th & 6th grade Poster Contest Winners. The theme this year is “Life in The Soil: Dig Deeper.”

The top three contestants and their families in each grade were invited to join us for the presentation. The District Awards went to:

3rd Grade: 1st Place – Jenna Black 2nd Place – Taylor Handzo 3rd Place – Jocee Mayfield

4th Grade: 1st Place – Kylee Resz 2nd Place – Hayleigh Burres 3rd Place – Lexsys Whisler

6th Grade: 1st Place – Vanessa Nail 2nd Place – Camden Julian 3rd Place – Kaitlyn Stania

1st Place received $25 and a trophy, 2nd place received $20 and a trophy and 3rd place received $15 and a trophy. All 1st Place Posters will go on to the State level and possibly all the way to the National Level. Good luck everyone. All those attending the Annual Meeting were able to vote on their favorite poster and Lexsys Whisler received the “People’s Choice Award” which earned another $10 and trophy as well. Congratulations to all our Poster Contest winners.

We were proud to award the 2018 “Cooperator of the Year” to Eston Ross. It’s been a pleasure working with Eston for over 13 years. He has done numerous cost-share activities through our office like implementing wildlife habitat, improving his grazing system and forage management, Congratulations Eston.

It was a great night and we’d like to thank all that attended this year’s meeting.
