Fulfilling the Vision…Herriman Chapel Campus celebrates 99 years

In the spring of 1927, Bro. David Englund, Bro. Charlie Mitchell, Bro. J.S. Worthington and Bro. R.C. Oldham met at Oak Dale Church with a vision and made plans for Herriman Chapel Camp.

Pastor Brent Bland, chairman of the Herriman Chapel Camp Planning Committee, is inviting our community to join us on the Herriman Chapel Campus as we celebrate our 99th anniversary.

Camp 2026 will be kicked off by a country breakfast served on Sunday morning, July 26, 8-10 a.m. The Wanda Mountain Boys from St. Louis, MO, will present a free concert at 10:45 a.m. Following this concert, Colleen Taylor and Betty Rosbrugh, will prepare a delicious traditional Sunday dinner.

Carol Avery, our Kid’s Camp teacher, will teach on “Race for the prize.” These children’s services will be held Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31. If your children enjoy Vacation Bible School, they will love this time at camp. There will be story time, games, arts and crafts and a delicious lunch served in the dining hall following the morning activities. Parents, grandparents and caregivers are encouraged to attend the 10:30 worship service while the children attend their special activities in the children’s chapel.

The Blythe Family will join us again this year in leading us in worship. The Blythe Family is prominent American Southern Gospel ministry and music group; ;traveling across the country since 1991. The five member team includes, David and Diana Blythe, their children: Richard and Sandy Blyth and family friend, Rita Ritchey. Daughter, Sandy Blythe is also an accomplished songwriter, and has written for other major gospel groups. The Blythe Family will be in concert with us at 7 p.m. Monday evening, July 27.

Marla Cook, from Ft. Scott, KS, will be in concert on Sunday nights, July 26 and Aug.2 at 6:30 p.m. Marla is a gifted pianist and song writer. She has four of her own original compositions on her project: “My Praise.”

Our evangelist, Rev. Chris Cravens, lives in Findlay, OH, and now serves at the Conference President of the Heartland Bible Methodist Regional Conference. He will speak daily at 10:30 a.m. and the evening evangelistic services.

Dr. Jim Lo, will speak at our appreciation dinner for church leaders, scheduled for Friday evening July 31 and 5 p.m.

We invite members of our community to join us as we continue to fulfill the vision of the Herriman Chapel Camp. Down through the years many life changing experiences have happened on this campus. Many young men and women have spent time at the altar seeking God and the direction for their lives. Today these people are leaders in our local churches and in our community. Many down through the years, have made lifetime decisions on this plot of ground because a few men had a vision and kept that vision.
