The 64th annual Galvin-Vickers reunion was held Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Lion’s Club building in El Dorado Springs. Fifty-six descendants of Nellie Galvin and George Washington Vickers were in attendance, making this the biggest crowd in several years. Fern Kelsay and Rosella Gammon were recognized as being the oldest at the gathering; Alex Cauthon was the youngest. Gary Collins asked the blessing for the meal and a delicious carry-in dinner was enjoyed by all. The afternoon was spent visiting and sharing stories. Family tree genealogies were on hand for viewing, and a drawing for door prizes provided another highlight to the day. Next year the reunion will be held on Aug. 21, 2017, in the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall. The committee will be Kyle and Debbie Vickers, Carolyn and Bill Kelsay and Gary and Shirley Vickers. Family members are encouraged to mark their calendars now, and help make next year’s 65th reunion an extra-special event.
