After more than two decades of faithful leadership, Cammie Housh has concluded her service on the El Dorado Christian School Board, marking the end of a remarkable 25-year tenure from 2000 to 2025. During that time, Housh also held a unique place in the school’s leadership history as the only woman to have served on the ECS Board.

Housh and her husband, Mike, owners of Housh Dentistry in El Dorado Springs, have long been active supporters of El Dorado Christian School. Their two children, Chaney and Brayden, both attended ECS through high school. Chaney, a member of the ECS Class of 2016, is married to Jalen Supancic, and the couple has a daughter, Layla Grace. Their son Brayden is married to Sydney (Bell).

When Housh first joined the board in 2000, she never imagined the journey would span a quarter of a century.

“I was excited to be a part of the ECS community, humbled to be asked, and anxious to serve in whatever way I could,” Housh said. At the time, her daughter was preparing to enter preschool, giving the family an opportunity to become actively involved as ECS parents as well.

While she did not anticipate serving for so many years, Housh credits the example of long-time board member Randy Bland as an inspiration. “Randy set a wonderful example of service, as he has served for more than 40 years,” she said.

Throughout her years on the board, Housh said the greatest blessing was serving alongside fellow believers who sought God’s direction in every decision.

“I was absolutely blessed to serve with amazing Christians,” she said. “The men on the board and the principals we worked with were all people of godly character who were truly active in seeking God’s will for the school and the families involved.”

One of the most significant moments during her tenure came in the early 2000s when the board prayerfully considered expanding the school to include a high school.

“I remember the discussions and prayer that went into whether or not to add a high school,” Housh said. “It felt like a huge undertaking.” Ultimately, the board decided to move forward gradually, adding one grade level at a time beginning in 2001. “Praise the Lord, it worked,” she said. “ECS now has more than two decades of high school graduates, some of whom were able to attend the school for all of their undergraduate education.”

Housh recalls the many hours spent in meetings over the years, sometimes under the weight of difficult decisions.

“There were times when meetings were tense because of the importance of the decisions we faced,” she said. “But each person was earnest in seeking God’s will. It’s a blessing when Christians with different backgrounds, experiences, and opinions allow God to use those differences to accomplish His purpose.”

Another major challenge came during 2020 as schools across the nation faced the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We had never navigated anything quite so unexpected,” Housh said. “We were concerned for the health of our staff and students while also trying to understand the constantly changing information. We also had to consider the financial implications of paying teachers and staff during an uncertain time.” Through careful planning, information gathering, and prayer, the school persevered. “Praise Jesus—we made it through.”

Beyond her board service, the Housh family was deeply involved in other areas of school life. Mike coached basketball when their children were young, and together they coached track for nearly ten years.

“We truly had so much fun working with the kids and their parents,” she said. “We still hold such fond memories and are blessed to maintain relationships with many of those families today. It’s been wonderful to see how God has led those young people as they grow into adulthood and even become parents themselves.”

Looking back, Housh said the experience shaped her personally and spiritually.

“I have learned so much from the people I served with,” she said. “Through my fellow board members, I learned patience in waiting on the Lord and truly seeking His will.”

Though she is stepping away from the board, Housh says her support for ECS remains strong.

“I am still humbled to think that I was able to work with such amazing people for so many years,” she said. “I will miss not having such an active role, but Mike and I will continue to support ECS and the ECS community however the Lord leads.”

Her 25 years of service leave a lasting legacy of faith, dedication, and commitment to Christian education in El Dorado Springs.
