July 12 was a dangerous day

At 12:10 p.m. on Wed. July 12, a 2003 Chevrolet driven by Lalan Cole of El Dorado Springs was involved in an accident on Hwy 54 about 11 miles east of Nevada.  The driver, Lalan Cole, 69, and the occupant, Nicholas Cole, 44, were seriously injured and transported to Cox South by Lifeflight. The crash occurred as the vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.

At 4:44 p.m. on Wed. July 12, Brandon T. Herman, 28, of Boonville, MO, driving a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country was hit by a 17-year-old juvenile from Leeds, ND, driving a 1994 International 9200. The juvenile failed to yield and made a left turn into the Herman’s path. Herman struck the juvenile’s vehicle and then traveled off the roadway and overturned, ejecting the driver. The Town and Country was totaled and Herman was pronounced dead at the scene. There was minor damage to the International and it was driven from the scene.
