The Sun held consecutive “Meet-and-Greet” sessions on Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 for state and local candidates in Stockton and El Dorado Springs.
Over 150 voters attended to hear what the candidates had to say before the Aug. 6 elections. Organizers included Kimball Long, Cheryl Thornton, Kenneth Thornton, Tami Hughes, Joe Hughes, Renne Cruz, and Melanie Chance, all of whom were passionate about informing voters beforehand.
The two-night event kicked off at Cedar County Plaza, located at 811 Owen Mills Rd. in Stockton, MO. With Pastor Tim Norman leading in prayer, Stockton Mayor Brandon Cahill led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Jeanette York played the National Anthem. Night two took place at the community center located at 135 W. Spring St., El Dorado Springs, with Pastor Joe Trussel leading the evening in prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Cory Gayman and the National Anthem performed by Leo Ferguson. On both nights, state and local candidates had the opportunity to address voters. Local candidates also answered questions from the group prior to the event. The El Dorado Sun appreciates the attendance of all the candidates and voters at the two-night event. We’re excited about hosting more events like this in the future.
