RIVERVIEW COMMUNITY REUNION 2016 – What a wonderful fall day it was for the 59th Riverview Community reunion Oct. 2, 2016. Several attended church service before the reunion started.
The dinner was a carry-in, with an abundance of good food. Mike Norval, pastor of the church, gave the noon prayer.
After dinner there was picture taking and visiting, before the short business meeting began. Lori Norval was the mistress of ceremony. Our opening song was “America The Beautiful.” Joe Norval read last year’s minutes. We had a minute of silent prayer for the friends and loved ones who passed on since last year; Edith Bratcher, Pauline Carriker Spangler, Betty Gentry Martin, Albert Lee Miller and Clint McClannahan. They well be sadly missed.
It was voted to keep the same committee as this year for next year; Lori and Mike Norval and Kelly and Gary Lowe. We thank them for the work they did this year.
Gifts were given to the youngest – Payton Stockstill; came the farthest – James and Vicky McCombs; lived in the community the longest – Wanda Venter Decker; the shortest time – Sheila VonGuyso and the oldest person – Wanda Venter Decker.
Our entertainment this year was the Greathouse family, Ida Ruth Tucker, J.V. Greathouse, Mary Sissick and Brenda Dilly. They sang a song Ida wrote, “Mom and Dad.” Ida’s son, James McCombs and wife, Vicky, sang two songs that James wrote, “Faith of Abraham” and “God’s Grace.” Then J.V, Ida, Mary and Brenda sang, “I’ll Fly Away” and “Lord I Want to go to Heaven” and J.V. sang, “Old Shep.” You can listen to them all day. Thanks so much for sharing your God given talent with us.
Several gifts were given as door prizes to the following: Vicky, Ida Ruth, Mary Beth, Airhi, Leila, Brenda, Ruby, Cody and Kason. We had the closing prayer by Mike Norval.
