Former Guardian Charged with Multiple Felonies in Child Sexual Abuse Case
A troubling case unfolds as Dalton D. Allison of St. Clair County faces serious felony charges, including four counts of statutory rape and a violation of a child protection order after allegations emerged concerning his conduct with a minor under his guardianship.
According to court documents, Allison was granted guardianship over the victim in January 2024. It is alleged that he engaged in sexual acts with the victim multiple times, forcing her to comply with his demands. The probable cause statement indicates that Allison made disturbing comments to the victim, expressing a desire to have a deeper relationship and threatening self-harm if she did not comply with his wishes. He allegedly warned the victim against disclosing their encounters, claiming it would lead to his imprisonment and potential suicide.
In a recent court order dated June 5, 2024, Allison’s bond was modified to $100,000, which requires him to wear electronic monitoring at his expense. The bond conditions also prohibit any contact with the victim, either directly or indirectly, through the internet or social media.
George Wilhite of Wilhite/Sharp Bonding posted Allison’s bond on the same day the bond modification order was issued.
In addition to the felony charges, Allison is now also facing a class A misdemeanor for violating a child protection order. James Michael Brown, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of the County of St. Clair, has charged Allison with knowingly violating the order, which prohibited him from communicating with the protected child in any manner or through any medium. Reports suggest that he attempted to contact the victim despite being served with the court order.
Daniel Dysart is prosecuting the case, while attorney Sean Pickett represents Allison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 22, 2025, before Judge Blane Baker in the St. Clair County Circuit Court.
As the legal proceedings continue, the El Dorado Sun remains vigilant about the implications of this case, which reflects broader concerns over the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals in guardianship situations.
Further updates will follow as the case progresses through the judicial system.
