Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on March 16, the El Dorado Springs Senior Center closed our doors to the public. However, in order to continue providing nutritious meals to the most vulnerable amongst us, our homebound older adults, five days a week, our staff of three have still been here, diligently working.

Because most people had assumed our work here had stopped, on that Monday morning, all donations to the Center came to a screeching halt. Fundraising plans were put on hold, and yet we continued to provide meals to our El Dorado Springs senior population -over 450 meals per week, and counting.

Although the government allocates funds for the Center, it is not enough. This is why, throughout the year, we heavily rely on fundraisers, donations, and volunteers.

Thankfully, as word slowly began to spread about our situation, financial contributions began to trickle in, for which we are deeply grateful.

In order to keep our Home Delivered Meal program running, and our local homebound older adults properly fed and nourished, the Senior Center continues to rally the support of our community. The health and wellness of our older adults is important to us, but it is even more critical now. We are determined not to allow one senior in our town to go without a nutritious meal.

With sincere appreciation, we would like to thank our dedicated HDM volunteer drivers who never fail us. Without you, we would not be able to get our Home Delivered Meals into the hands of those who desperately need them.

To date, the following individuals/businesses have stepped forward to financially lend a hand during this challenging time, for which we are deeply grateful:

Allison’s Quick Lube, Arthur &Judith Alexiou, Carl & Earline Allison, Janice Amick, Marie Barlow, Evelyn Boyle, Ruth &Thomas Brown and Jo Elaine Cooper, Church of Christ, Gary Collins, El Dorado Springs Cycle & Outdoor Equipment, Anna Eriksson, Travis Farran, Shelter Insurance, Fugate Motors, Inc., Michael Hallford, Frank & Fern Haynes, Sheryl Henry & Alisha Pitts, Gene Hoover, Barbara Jessup, Darrell Martin, Darren & Amy Mead, Mid-Missouri Bank, Ruby Minnis, James Moresi, Tanya & Michael Morin, Mike & Kathy Newman, Bonnie Nitsche, Peggy & Danielle Price, Roy & Nancy Raymond, Randy & Debra Richter, Robert Roe, S&B Liquors & Discount Cigarettes/Martha Parkins, Toni Sabol, Charles & Dorothy Silvers, Ron & Janet Swopes/The Church at Circle S, The CPA Firm, Shirley Vickers, James & Marcia Williams and Daniel & Sheryl Yoder.

ln our quest to continue to raise much needed funds, the Center will begin a new curbside pickup program.

This program will include a different menu each week, which will be published in advance on our Facebook page, in our local newspapers, and announced on our local radio station.

Weekly Friday curbside pickups are open to the public between the hours of 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost per meal is $10. You may pay for, and pick up, your meal on the side of our building, at the loading dock.

Our very first weekly curbside pickup Menu is being sponsored by Eagles Tri-Lakes Aerie & Aux 4279, for which we are deeply appreciative.

Since it’s the first Friday of the month, our menu this week demands us to serve our normal Fried Chicken Friday Menu, which includes our famous Fried Chicken, fluffy mashed potatoes and creamy gravy, colorful veggie, and one of our impressive desserts!
