This was a busy weekend. Saturday night we took Band pictures just before playing our concert honoring Miss Lillian with some of her favorite songs. We shared some interesting facts about her life and her history with the Band.

Sunday our concert was centered around Father’s Day and the gentlemen in the crowd and in our Band. We had a great time and hope the folks who were in attendance enjoyed themselves.

Last weekend, Kaitlyn McConnell, a writer from the “Ozarks Alive” website, came to listen to the Band and learn about our town. Her article and website can be found at  www.ozarksalive.com . We can’t wait to see what she has to say about our P.O.P.S. Museum, our Municipal Band and our Community. Her Facebook page is “Ozarks Alive” and that should be fun to read too.

Next weekend we are trying a “first.” The 5th and 6th graders in Summer School in El Dorado Springs will take a field trip to the Opera House Theater to watch the movie “The Music Man.” They will learn a bit about several instruments and meet our new band director, Jordan White, who will introduce them to Band. They will be invited to bring their families to Friday evening’s Municipal Band performance. A special program has been selected to showcase each group of instruments and several “fun” songs have been picked that students will be familiar with. The first 50 of those Summer School students who come down to Band Friday night will receive a free t-shirt. We hope everyone has fun with this. A big thanks to the Opera House Theater, Frank Lambrecht, Jami Carpenter, Kimball Long, Vicki Hillsman, Nikki Allison, Bruce Rogers, the Chamber of Commerce and Joyce Cain for making this special occasion happen for our kids.

Don’t miss out on the fun – come on out Friday and Saturday evening at 8 and Sunday at 2. The bigger the crowd, the better.
