Kids’ Night Program Re-Scheduled for July 1st.

The 5th and 6th grade students in Summer School went on a field trip to the Opera House Theater where they were introduced to a few instruments; met the Choir teacher; learned about Band, Choir, and Drama; were treated to pop and popcorn; and watched the movie, “The Music Man”. The first 50 of these students who showed up for the Municipal Band concert Friday night were to receive a free “Downtown Tunes” t-shirt. Then Friday night it started to pour and Band was cancelled!

This next Friday, July 1, we will play our special Kids’ Night program and the first 50 5th & 6th grade Summer School students who come and can tell Vicki Hillsman something about the movie “The Music Man” get a free “Downtown Tunes” t-shirt! These are pretty cool shirts and all the kids are going to want one.

We have so many people to thank for this special event! The Municipal Band members want to thank the Opera House Theater, Vicki and Brent Hillsman, an anonymous donor for the pop and popcorn, Joyce’s Custom Tees, and Kamber Cain Music. It was also a pleasure working with the administrators and teachers from the school and we appreciate their support in this adventure. It was great having such well-behaved students in the theater too. We hope kids show up this Friday to watch the Band and get their cool T-Shirt. Band starts at 8.

On Saturday we will play our 4th of July program, playing many patriotic songs, and Sunday we’ll have a few more patriotic songs. We play every Friday and Saturday from 8-9 and every Sunday afternoon from 2-3.

You might enjoy reading what Kaitlyn McConnell wrote about our Band, Museum, and Community on her blog:  www.ozarksalive.com  when she visited a couple of weeks ago. Pretty cool!
