TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Thursday, Dec. 20, for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.

Leader Sheryl Ann called our meeting to order and Kay and Carol led us in singing, “Light Christmas” and “Up On The Stovetop.” We said our TOPS and KOPS pledges.

Marilyn led us in a series of exercises.

Sheryl led us in roll call, 25 weighed in today and the chapter had a net loss of 3.0 lbs.

The week’s best loser was LoEtta with a loss of 4.0 lbs.

Marble game: Judy D won the right to draw but did not get the winning one. The pot was at $17.50 this week.

We sang Happy Birthday to Carol. Her birthday is on Christmas day.

Sheryl read a letter from Deanna Bies, Regional Director. TOPS theme has changed to “Seeds of Change.” TOPS is changing its advertising and will appear in more national advertising. There are several magazine ads with articles about TOPS member successes. The Coordinator and Area Captains are the “boots on the ground” for TOPS and vital to our success. Deanna says be ready for new members. Make sure they are welcome and comfortable. Make sure they have a new member coach to help them get started.

Sheryl then turned the meeting over to Kay who had the program today.

Kay spoke on emotional eating. She said the difference in emotional eating is if hunger comes on slowly and a simple healthy meal satisfies you that is true hunger. Emotional hunger comes on suddenly with overwhelming cravings for a particular food.

Think about events that trigger this feeling and try to distract yourself with something else.

Kay’s program led to a discussion on with members telling tips on what has helped them in the past.
