TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, 1300 S. Summer St, El Dorado Springs on Thursday, May 19, for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.
Linda Hall, Leader, called the meeting to order.
Linda C. led us in singing “Welcome New Member”
We said our TOPS and KOPS pledges.
Linda H led us in roll call and walking reports. We welcomed a new member, Catherine. Thank you, Laura, for telling Catherine about TOPS. Twenty-Four members weighed in, we had a Gain of 4.8 lbs. and a loss of 17.4 lbs. resulting in a net loss of 12.2 lbs. Best loser for the week was Jan with a loss of 5.2 lbs. Congratulations Jan!
Linda read a thank you note from Claudia thanking us for our support.
Juda had the program today. She took her program from the AARP magazine. Some highlights were; Best anti-aging diet: Basic common sense. Focus on eating veggies, fruit, grains and nuts. Avoid processed foods, don’t skip breakfast. Make breakfast a healthy meal of protein, fruit and grain. Avoid added sugar and watch your portions. Exercise, get up off the couch. Walk around the house or if you can walk outside for at least 20 minutes a day. Do stretching exercises even if you have to do them sitting down. Thank you, Juda, these are all common-sense things TOPS has taught for years.
Marilyn reported on the new contest for the chapter. It will run in connection with the TOPS Summer Contest. Marilyn will record our progress for the TOPS Summer contest. For the Chapter contest she is suggesting “SUMMER FITNESS CHALLENGE:” “S” Spending active time outside for at least 30 minutes three days a week. “U” Kicking things up a notch, whatever your usual activity is, push yourself to do a little more at least once a week. “M” is for marching in place for one minute as a group at your weekly TOPS meetings.
“M” is for Mondays Kick off your week with a good workout, “E” is for enjoying an activity of your choice. At your weekly meetings, share which summer activities you enjoy. “R” Relax with gentle stretches at least twice a week.
Contest will start next week. Exercise three times a week for one point, and lose weight for one point. Winner of the TOPS portion must have the most points and lose weight. Winner of KOPS must have the most points and be under goal the entire contest.
Contest would run for six weeks and cost $2 to join.
Laura made a motion to do this contest for six weeks at a $2 cost as outlined, Sue 2nd and motion carried. Marilyn will have details for everyone next week.
The TOPS Summer contest started this week. Everyone should have the rules if not see Linda H.
Linda said as of June 1st the church will be called “Hill Church” but we will continue to be able to meet here as we have in the past.
