Linda H led us in roll call and walking report. Eighteen members weighed in, we had a Loss of 13.2 and a gain of 4.2 resulting in a Net LOSS of 9 lbs. Best loser for the week was Robbie with a loss of 6.2 lbs.  Congratulations Robbie!

We sang Happy Birthday to Warren who is celebrating his Birthday today and we sang Happy Birthday to Linda H who will celebrate her birthday tomorrow.

Warren presented the program today. He took his first part from TOPS NEWS Magazine from 2013. He talked about some things to do to help you in changing to a new healthy lifestyle. Find a hobby you enjoy and takes your mind off of food and gives you exercise. If it is something you enjoy you will want to do it and not have to make yourself, do it. For example, his hobby is playing golf and his wife’s Linda’s is playing pickleball. Try Tai Chi exercises or yoga.

Breathe deeply, it will relax you, eat sensibly, and SMILE.  He then spoke on the importance of Vitamin E especially for adults over the age of 70.  Be careful and don’t take too much, as too much can be harmful.  Check with your Doctor.  Since Vitamin D strengthens bones, he listed some foods high in Vitamin D.  Green Veggies, Eggs, (but should be free range), milk, enriched cereals, wild mushrooms and his favorite, Wild Alaskan Sockeye salmon.

He then asked us what substitute’s we could use for some high calorie foods and that question sparked a great discussion.  Some ideas:  substitute for ice cream: Greek Yogurt or sherbets.

White bread, be sure you use 100% whole grain bread.

Thanks for a great program, Warren.

MARBLE GAME:  Ray won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.

Marilyn reported on the contest:  Jean, Robbie, Linda Clay, Linda Hall and Laura are all tied with 4 points.  Marilyn is going to arrange for us to have partners next week.

Fall Rally:  we were asked by Claudia if we would do a skit for Fall Rally. Due to the short notice we decided to decline.

Jean reported on the Chamber meeting.  Laura has been asked to talk about her weight loss journey at the next Chamber meeting on Thursday, Oct. 14. She suggested members mark their calendars and plan to attend to support Laura in this. The meeting is at 12 noon in the Community building meeting room.  Lunch is $10 and is provided by Count On Us Catering and is usually calorie friendly.  Please RSVP to Jean by the Oct. 7 meeting.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with Linda’s quote of the day “Good humor is a tonic for mind and body. It is the best antidote for anxiety and depression. It is a business asset It attracts and keeps friends. It lightens human burdens It is the direct route to serenity and contentment.” Greenville Klesser
