TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Preferred Family Healthcare building, 700 E. Hospital Rd, El Dorado Springs on Thursday, June 13, for their regular weigh-in and meeting.

Warren, our leader, called the meeting to order.

Carol led us in singing “We’ll Lose Weight”

We said our TOPS & KOPS Pledges.

Marilyn led us in some stretching exercises.

Warren led us in roll call; 16 members weighed in. The chapter had a gain of 10.2 lbs. and a loss of 7.0 pounds which gave us a net gain of 3.2 lbs.

The week’s best loser was Warren with a loss of 2.4 pounds, congratulations Warren!

Other good losses were Kaelin 1.8, Linda C 1.0 and Samantha 1.0.

Marilyn had the program today. She first commented on Judy’s program a few weeks ago and asked if anyone had tried the 30-30-30 program. This is to eat a breakfast with at least 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of getting up and follow that with 30 minutes of exercise. (Jean will send out a copy of this program in case anyone wants to try this). Marilyn then brought to our attention several articles from the TOPS NEWS January/February 2024 edition. “Support Brings Success” about a chapter that during roll call members try to motivate others with helpful suggestions. They keep in touch with each other during the week and do fun things together. The next article was “Warm Up to Frozen Vegetables.” Try using more frozen vegetables if fresh vegetables are not available. Frozen is more nutritious than fresh ones that have sat in the store too long. This article also highlighted several good recipes using frozen vegetables. The next one was “Get Your Blood Pumping.” It shows easy exercises you can do in your home and/or at a gym to get your blood pumping. Remember only 15 minutes of walking two times a day will get you moderate exercise. The next one is “From Resolutions to Routines” Remember those new year’s resolutions you made? It explains habits both healthy and unhealthy all come from a habit loop that has three key components: the cue, the behavior and the reward. As this loop is repeated a habit forms.

Marilyn also mentioned the article “A New Season” and “Sleep’s Healing Powers.”

She pointed out the March/April edition of TOPS NEWS has an article about “KOPS Inspiring TOPS.” This chapter had success in having a contest where a KOPS is paired with a TOPS. After agreeing to participate, each KOPS picks a TOPS member’s name out of a hat. The role of the KOPS is to motivate their TOPS partner to lose weight. The member with the greatest net weight loss at the end of 13 weeks wins. Marilyn suggested we try this as we have a lot of KOPS in our chapter.

This is just a sample of the great articles that can be found in the TOPS NEWS and this is sent FREE to members every other month.

Marilyn then handed out a pledge to each member and asked them to put it in a place in their home they would see every day.  It said;

“Never Quit Pledge”

Today I pledge that I’ll never quit

My lifelong race to be healthy and fit

Today, I pledge to take control of myself,

No more excuses that cost me my health.

I pledge to love me as my best friend

Because that is exactly who I am

I pledge to live my life with humor and grit.

Today I pledge that I’ll never quit

Thank you, Marilyn, for a great program

Marble Game:  Jean won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.  There was $21 in the pot.

Linda Hall presented Tammy with a back in black with perfect attendance award.

We did the drawing for free dues and the winner was Sheryl.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with our motto:

IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME
