TOPS discusses using containers for portion control

TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, 1300 S Summer St, El Dorado Springs, on Thursday, July 22, for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.

Linda Hall, Leader, called the meeting to order.

Carol led us in singing “Walk Around the Block”

We said our TOPS and KOPS pledges.

Linda H led us in roll call and walking report. Eighteen weighed in, we had a Gain of 5.8 and a loss of 9.0 resulting in a Net loss of 3.2 lbs. Best loser of the week was Sharron with a loss of 4.2 Congratulations Sharron.

Pat had the program today and also; she brought the tasting dish.

Her tasting dish was Apricot Pistachio Mini Muffins. She took this recipe from the TOPS Magazine

Her program was on Portion Control.

She asked what we use to measure our portions. If you use a regular tablespoon and teaspoon, you may not be getting an accurate measurement.

She showed us some containers that can easily be found to store your food in the proper proportion. She uses three different sizes of scoops to measure out various foods.

A serving of meat is the size of a deck or cards.

Use scales to weigh your food.

Laura reported on the contest: this week the blue team is ahead by just a little.

Laura demonstrated how she uses the food chart to break down the “good” calories vs the “bad.” That way she can look back and see what she should cut out and what she should add.

Marble game: Linda C won the right to draw for the marble but did not get the winning one.

Linda Hall has the list of “Service Positions” almost done and will have copies for each member soon.

Linda read a card from the Stockton Chapter thanking us for having them visit us.
