TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E. Broadway on Thursday, May 30, for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.

Leader Sheryl Ann called our meeting to order and Kay and Carol led us in singing “Pounds Off.” We said our TOPS and KOPS pledges.

Sheryl led us in roll call & walking report. Twenty-five weighed in today and the chapter had a net Loss of 16.8 lbs. Newest member, Laura was the best loser of the week with a loss of 11.8 lbs. Congratulations what a way to start your weight loss journey with TOPS, keep up the good work.

Traci celebrated a birthday on June 3, and LJ and Bill will celebrate an anniversary on June 4. Neither were here today so we could not sing to them.

Jean won the right to draw for the marble but did not get the winning one. The pot was at $26.50 this week.

Sheryl went over the summer contest. Sheet was passed around for members to sign up to join in the contest. There are five different sections of the contest. Members can do all of them or chose to do just one. The contest runs for 13 weeks, June 3 to August 30. Members will be awarded at Fall Rally (date unknown at this time).

A member of the chapter must be selected to keep track of each members weekly activity. Melissa and Susan volunteered to do this for us.

Section 1 is individual.  Members must bring a food for tasting that is made with a different spice. This must be done 11 out of 13 weeks.  Members get a point if they sample the food brought. A sampling is only a 2 oz portion. Members have been asked to indicate if they will bring a sampling. Margie will bring next weeks sample using Basil in her sample.

Section 2 is keeping a food chart. All you have to do is show your weekly food chart to Melissa it can be on paper or on your phone. Just as long as she knows you kept your chart.

Section 3 this is a chapter portion. We must keep in contact with our “sister” chapter Ellington 11 weeks out of the 13 by email or by cards. Margie will do this for us.

Section 4, Member Teams, we must divide into teams. The Chapter will need to buy Mardi Gras Beads and each team has a jar, each team member will receive a necklace if they lost or stayed the same and place it in the team’s jar. KOPS must be in Leeway to receive a necklace. If a TOPS gain, they must take a necklace out of the jar, or KOPS out of leeway must take a necklace out of jar.

At the end of the contest the team who lost the most weight will receive certificates for their chapter and wear all of the beads at Fall Rally. Melissa and Susan will keep track of our weights but each member has to tell them each week.

Section 5, a chapter activity. We get points for new members, so we need to get out there and ask friends to come and visit.

Jean found Mardi Gras Beads (144 necklaces for $17.99), Linda H moved we purchase them and Susan 2nd.

Motion passed.

Remember: start keeping your food chart TODAY.

Teams will be picked next week. There is still time to sign up next week.

It was decided we will continue with the current contest (getting to pick a tile to spell TOPS if you lose). It is easy and no records to keep. Secret Pal will continue as well.

The summer contest sounds like a lot of fun once we figure it out and get started on it.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME.”
