Tops Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Thursday, Jan. 16, for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.

We welcomed back our leader, Susan. Also, glad to see Melissa back. Susan led us in the TOPS and KOPS pledges and Carol led us in singing “When You’rer Smiling”.

Susan read a thank you card from Linda H.

Susan led us roll call, 27 members weighed in today and we had a net Gain of 10.6. Best loser of the week was Sue who lost 1.4 lbs., other good losses were; Carolyn Jones 2.2 (she had to leave before the meeting), Chris 1.4 (Chris could not stay for the meeting) and Jan 1.0. Congratulations to all.

Susan read a letter from Claudia; she will be sending her newsletters by email to each member in the future. She reminded us of SRD April 24-25.

Susan reminded us of the need to be sensitive to others. Weigh in is private and no one is to go back to the weigh in table when someone is weighing in. Remember, someone may be having a bad day with issues we do not know about, be kind.

Marilyn presented a 1 Year KOPS award to Judy B. Congratulations Judy B.

Susan brought up the March Baked Potato Luncheon. It was determined we already voted to have this in March. We need to decide on a date. Motion was made by Jean we have the Baked Potato Luncheon on March 19 if there is no other conflict. Judy B 2nd and motion carried. Jean will check with CofC to see if there is anything else planned for that day.

Marble game pot is at $80.50. Jan won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.

With no other business the floor was turned over to Jean for the program. She took her program from the TOPS web site, Learn it, Live it. “Never Give Up-Making all foods fit.”

At the first of the year we all make new Year’s resolutions and maybe stick with them for a few weeks or even a couple of months. Then we crave what ever we gave up then we give in and over do on what we are craving. Don’t give up any one food, look at TOPS exchange system and find something you can exchange maybe a small piece of chocolate for. Perhaps if you had a piece of chocolate and a cup of tea at three in the afternoon you should not have the peanut butter and crackers at 5. Stop and think before you make a decision and balance out any treats or cravings over the course of the day.

Jean also shared her success with intermittent fasting. She has been stopping eating at 6 p.m. and does not eat again till 8 a.m. It has been working well. This may not work for everyone but it may for some. This sparked a discussion among members about what works for them.

Meeting was then adjourned with the quote for the day.

“If you fail, never give up because FAIL means First Attempt In Learning.

End is not the end, In fact END means Effort Never Dies.

If you get NO as an answer remember NO means Next Opportunity”
