The week’s best loser for the week was Sharron with a loss of 3.6 lbs. followed closely by Warren who had a 3.4 lb. loss. Congratulations Sharron! Seems to have a little friendly competition going here.

Judy B reached her goal today and is now a KOPS! Congratulations Judy!

Warren had the program today. He spoke on some of the pros and cons of the KETO diet and used an article titled “4 reasons most people over 70 fails at the KETO Diet.

Your metabolism is slower than when you were in your 20’s & 30’s most diets don’t consider this.

Your sleep is not as good as when you were younger. Your skin is not as elastic as before and unless you exercise a lot, you lose muscle mass.

The KETO diet has been proved to lead to automatic reduction of hunger.

The KETO diet avoids carbs. Remember BAD Carbs are SUGAR.

It works so well 95% of people reduced or eliminated diabetic meds within 6 months while on this diet. HOWEVER, don’t rush into a low carb lifestyle. It is important to plan a balance of carbs, fiber and protein in your diet. Increase your intake of seafood, beans, nuts, seeds and berries.

Oolong or green tea has been proven to increase metabolism.

Some Things that DECREASE metabolism; bread, pizza, pasta, traditional yogurt (with sugar), sodas, fruit juice and frozen dinners (TV dinners).

Drinking more water and increasing exercise can help with increasing metabolism.

You can follow the KETO diet and have bacon 24/7 BUT it is not a healthy way to lose weight.

Thank you, Warren, for the excellent program.

Jean had the tasting dish today; she brought a Mediterranean Pasta Salad. This Is an example of foods on the Mediterranean diet. It contains a small amount of pasta along with kidney beans, black olives, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, garlic, roasted bell pepper and other spices.

Linda reminded us measurements will be taken 2nd week in July and elections of officers will be July 8th.

Laura held the drawing for winners of the June Contest.

Marble game Linda C won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with Linda’s quote of the week. “Believe You Can and You Are Halfway There” Theodore Roosevelt

And our Motto: IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME
