TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Firefly Services building, formerly known as “Preferred Family Healthcare” at 700 E. Hospital Rd., El Dorado Springs on Thursday, Nov. 14, for their regular weigh-in and meeting.
Our leader, Warren called the meeting to order, Carol led us in singing “Rock Off The Pounds”
Marilyn led us in some very good and much needed exercises.
Warren then led us in Roll Call. 16 members weighed in, we had a Loss of 9.0 and a gain of 4.6 pounds, giving us a net loss of 4.4
Samantha lost 5.8 pounds this week she was not able to stay for the meeting so Warren who lost 1.6 received the Best Loser award for the week. Congratulations to both of you.
Carol had the program today; she took her program from the current TOPS NEWS. This article was written by a 93-year-old TOPS member who is also named Carol. She asks “Why are you at TOPS? When you joined what did you think would happen? How much has being a TOPS member changed your life, if any? What did you weigh when you joined, what do you weigh now? Did you say Wow this really helps? Or did you say Oh Boy this is a nice bunch of ladies, this could be a fun group. Did you remember that TOPS is not a social club? It is a weight loss organization and you are here to get healthy. The friends you make are a bonus. She said Success is 1% luck and 99% YOU.
Our Carol asked our group some good questions, such as “What Motivates you in life?” Some motivations are care for others, develop, and grow, receive recognition and approval, learn new things, take on new challenges, goals, and deadlines. Carol then asked us to say the TOPS Pledge and really think about the words.
Some tips from the 93-year-old Carol. If you love to bake, go ahead and do it. Then give yourself 1 serving and share the rest with someone. If you love potato chips do not keep them in your house, only enjoy them when you are somewhere they are being served. Do not use the Holidays as an excuse “Oh, I must eat it because I will hurt her feelings if I do not, how about hurting your health if you do? You must love yourself; food is not the most important thing in life!
Thank you, Carol, for a wonderful program.
Pat presented us with a new contest for now till the end of the year. She passed out copies of the rules. It is $2 to join and starts today. Linda Hall made a motion that we do this contest and Carol 2nd, motion passed. Please see Pat to sign up and get your copy of the rules.
Marble Game, there is $15.50 in the pot, Sharron won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.
Warren said there are a lot of supplies left from past potato bakes. Suggestion was made we do an auction of these items and proceeds to go to the chapter. A date to do this needs to be set.
