TOPS Chapter 319 El Dorado Springs (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) met in the Church Of Christ Sanctuary on Thursday, Aug. 18.

Our leader, Robbie opened the meeting. Kay led us in singing “Snackity Snack”.

We said our pledges and had roll call.

Thirty members weighed in today. Susan was our week’s best loser with a loss of 2.6 lbs. Congratulations Susan.

The chapter had a net loss of 1.2 lbs for the week.

We sang “Happy Birthday” to Becky and to Sharon.

Jean had the program today and showed a slide show of photos taken at this year’s SRD (State Recognition day). The KOPS were honored at SRD with a special brunch. Jean asked the KOPS to pick a TOPS they would like to mentor for a month and present them with a yellow rose and the promise to be there for them for the month. They can send cards, call, email or in some way contact their TOPS and be there for them. In a month we will change and the KOPS will pick a different TOPS to mentor. Of those present today Marguerite presented her rose to Virginia, Paul presented his rose to Warren, Linda H presented hers to Sue, Dorothy presented her rose to Juanita, Sharon to Tammy, Marie to Nikki, Carol to Susan, Marilyn to Sandi and Jean to Jan T.

At the Sept. 22 meeting the KOPS will pick different TOPS to mentor.

Warren reported on the contest. The current contest ended today and the KOPS and TOPS showed their cards. Jean won the KOPS portion of the contest and Jan won the TOPS portion of the contest.

Marble game: Marie won the right to draw but she drew a green one.

Five members were honored for representing our chapter in the St Jude’s Run/Walk for a reason. Angie, Chris, Linda, Marilyn and Jean all participated in the walk on Saturday, July 23.

We are starting to prepare for our semiannual Baked Potato Luncheon. The date will be Sept. 29 at the Community Center banquet room.

Watch the paper for more details coming soon.

We welcome anyone who is interested in losing weight. That includes men, women, teenagers and even children above the age of seven. We encourage and reward losses even as small as .2 of a pound! We kid a lot about that awful .2 especially when it is a gain! We do not shame you if you gain but help you explore what you might do to have a loss the next week. We have a lot of fun in the process. Today is the first day of the rest of your life as the saying goes so it is a good day to make a life changing decision. We often remind ourselves that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. We are here to help you break the cycle and have fun doing it. Please consider joining us.
