TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Thursday, Oct. 17,  for their weekly weigh-in and meeting. 

Leader Susan opened the meeting with the TOPS & KOPS Pledges

Kay led us in singing “On Top Of My Body.”

Susan led us in Roll Call.

Marble game: Laura won the right to draw. She got the yellow one and won a prize bag.

Susan read a thank you card from Claudia.

Twenty-five weighed in today. The chapter had an 8.6 net loss. Best loser was Sheryl Ann with a loss of 3.2 lbs. Other great losses were: Sandi 7.6 over 3 weeks, LJ 3.4 over two weeks and Laura 2.4.

Susan asked if we wanted to participate in the Christmas Parade this year. Theme is Star Spangled Christmas. The parade is Saturday November 16.  It was suggested the KOPS carry signs saying how many pounds they lost to goal. Also TOPS and KOPS carry clothing they USED to wear, displayed on a yardstick. Sheryl Ann motioned we do the Christmas Parade and Carol 2nd. Motion carried.

Susan asked about changing meeting day Thanksgiving week to Tuesday, Nov. 26.  She suggested we have simple, low calorie and healthy snacks to share. Robbie made motion we change meeting day to Tuesday, Nov. 26, and we have simple low-calorie healthy snacks to share, Marie 2nd, motion carried.

Christmas is on Wednesday the 25th this year. We could have Christmas party on the 12th or the 19th.  After some discussion Marie made motion, we have Christmas Party on the 12th, Warren 2nd and motion carried.

Some discussion on when to have TOPS Christmas week. This was tabled for a later date.

It was agreed our first meeting of the New Year will be Jan. 2.

The floor was turned over to Marilyn. She presented an award to Sandi that was missed due to Sandi being ill.

Sandi was the best loser for the month of September. She lost 13.4 lbs. She was awarded $5.50 for her efforts. Sandi also earned her 35 lb. loss certificate, and her 40 lb. loss certificate and charm. 

Marilyn then presented her program. First, she told us eating right and exercising is proven to be an excellent way to avoid the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Dancing is an excellent form of exercise as it helps your brain as well as muscles.

Marilyn led us in some exercise to music for the rest of her program.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with the quote of the day.

TOPS #MO 9319 meets each Thursday morning in the Methodist Church at 201 E Broadway, El Dorado Springs. Weigh-in starts at 7:45 a.m. the meeting begins at 8:45 a,m, and is over by 10 a.m.
