TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Preferred Family Healthcare building, 700 E. Hospital Rd, El Dorado Springs on Thursday, Jan. 25, for their regular weigh in and meeting.
Warren, our leader, called the meeting to order.
Carol led us in singing “Hey, Look Me Over”
We said our TOPS & KOPS Pledges
Warren led us in roll call; 20 members weighed in. The chapter had a Gain of 2.6 lbs. and a loss of 15.4 with a net Loss of 12.8
Best Loser for the week was Sharron with a 5.0 Loss! Congratulations, Sharron
Other good losses were: Laura 2.6, Pat 3.0, Jan 1.8, and Warren 1.4
Carol had the program today, she took a part of it from January/February TOPS NEWS and part from the internet, everydayhealth.com
Carol said she did a little research and math and determined if we were to lose only .02 of a pound times 52 weeks in a year, we would have lost 10.4 pounds in a years’ time! Losing .02 of a pound is a goal most anyone can achieve. To do this we might look at changing some bad habits. With more research Carol found the “Habit Loop” The Habit Loop starts with the Cue, craving, reward, and response. We need to break this habit loop. What gives you the cue you want to eat? Is it a habit you have acquired like eating while watching tv?
Carol gave us a list of some bad eating habits we might work on. Mindless eating, Nighttime eating, emotional eating, eating too quickly, and various others.
Carol said it takes up to 90 days for a habit to become ingrained. Some advice: eliminate the trigger (the Cue), identify the craving, uncover the root of the habit. To break the habit make it unsatisfying or hard to do.
Thank you, Carol, it was a great program and very helpful.
Linda Hall will have the program next week and present the monthly awards.
Carol’s program today led us right into the update on the Contest: we are to do at least 30 minutes of a different activity each day. This will help form a habit to exercise.
Warren asked how many saw the email from TOPS telling us about the monthly challenge. Instead of doing a contest like the Shine Like a Diamond one we did last year this one will be issued bimonthly and will be an individual challenge. January is focused on setting goals and changing habits.
Warren reminded us of SRD coming up in April, and of the poetry contest.
The baked potato luncheon will be coming up March 21st.
We sang Happy Birthday to Pam and to Sheryl.
Marble game: Pam won the right to draw but did not get the willing one. There is $24 in the pot.
With no other business meeting was adjourned with our motto
IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME.
