On Monday, Jan. 9, 10 members of Twentieth Century Club met in the home of Evelyn Boyle with Luella Phipps serving as co-hostess.

The meeting was called to order by President Sandi Eaves.

The new business was to decide on a theme for the 2017 year. The vote was to accept the theme of State Parks and Historical Sites in Missouri.

Our opinion was given by Kay Sewell on people helping and volunteering for the community and country on projects that help and benefit people.

The entertainment was presented by Luella Phipps. She gave information on the beginning of the Twentieth Century Club, when it was started and who founded the organization.

For the program, Kay Sewell presented a very interesting topic, Pioneer Times in Missouri, and her ancestry living at that time. She told about the Dadeville Academy which her grandfather attended in the 1800’s. It took the place of high school and was educational oriented to prepare the student for college. She shared information with the group from a report she had written on the education of her grandparents.

The meeting was adjourned to enjoy the beautiful birthday cake to celebrate the beginning of our club.
