Morning message at the Rockville United Methodist Church by Pastor Nick Van Dam sermon was titled “Take Heart and Have Courage.”

Mt. Zion Home Bible study was held Tuesday 7 p.m. in the Tom and Beverly Pelkey home and had eight in attendance.

Mark your calendars for Memorial Day ceremonies at the Mt. Zion Cemetery Rockville; R.J. Davis and Stanley Zink will be honored for their service to their country, all are invited.

Kidd’s Chapel Cemetery meeting will be at 1 p.m. Sunday May 28.

Rockville Hand quilters enjoyed having Peggy Sue McEwan attend with her grandmothers. We finished one quilt and are working hard on our Raffle quilt for the Rockville Quilt Show on Oct. 21, mark your calendars.

Mt. Zion Club met Wednesday, May 17, for their regular meeting held in the Marge Zink home with Mary Wood hosting. Twelve ladies enjoyed the afternoon answering the Roll call “one of your favorite flowers,” then Secretary Julia and Treasurer Beverly gave their reports and were approved, Bingo was our game; then the flower exchange which was lots of fun and lots of choice. The new flower this year was grown by our member who says she has a brown thumb so she brought solar wiggles plants for each member. From the club each member received a Mother’s Day flower. June is picnic time and the Mt. Zion Club will meet June 21 at noon for picnic sack lunch in the park in Appleton City then tour the Appleton City Museum at 1:30 p.m.

The annual meeting of the Foster-Snethen cousins was May 21,  at the home of Ron and Shirley McEwan. Those present were Barbara and Leslie Carpenter, Larry and Tisha Foster of Butler, John and Julia Snethen, Nancy Bradley and granddaughter, Crystal, of Grandview, Leslie Leroy Carpenter of Eldon and Paul Blackwell. The only one missing was Karen from Georgia, who couldn’t make it.

John and Julia Snethen attended Clinton Chapter #73 meeting Monday evening in Clinton and the OATS meeting on Thursday at the Osceola Senior Center. They had a very good fried chicken dinner there. John did take Julia flower shopping early Wednesday morning then took her out to breakfast at the Landmark in Lowry City.
