Marge Zink and Julia Snethen

Morning message at the Rockville United Methodist Church was by Pastor Larry Sorrells titled  Getting Bent Out of Shape. You are always welcome to join us.

Mt. Zion home Bible study met Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Tom and Beverly Pelkey home to study the bible. Fourteen were present.

Mt. Zion Club met Aug. 21, in the Marge Zink home, with ten ladies. They tacked lap robes until noon then enjoyed a bountiful carry-in dinner. The business meeting was conducted with Wilma giving the devotion, secretary and treasurer’s reports approved. Roll call was your favorite cool drink. A thank you note was read from Kathleen Dyer. We celebrated Beverly Pelkey, Mary Woods and Roberta Dines and the club 96 birthday. Our club was 96 years old, we have been meeting once a month. That is 1,152 meetings with very few canceled. We hope to continue for many more years. Roberta Crayton Dines and Charlene Crayton’s mother and mother-in-law were early members and Marge Zink’s mother-in-law, Ruth Zink, was also an early member. Next meeting will be Sept 18.

The Mt. Zion area received a nice rain, keeping pastures, crops and gardens green.

Beverly Pelkey enjoyed her birthday dinner at Madilyn’s Kitchen in Shell City. Beverly is still feeding the humming birds and cats, Tom is mowing grass.

Visitors in the Howard and Dixie Peterson home have been Kent and Michel Crawford building a ramp for them. Charlene and Donnie Crayton were also visitors.

Beverly Pelkey and Marge Zink enjoyed Bunco at the Lowery City Branch of the St Clair county Library Tues. Marge was the biggest loser. She got a price also. Welcome to join us third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. It’s fun.

Over at the Robin Siegismund Farm, Belle has been busy thinking. Daniel thought the house cows needed a bale of hay, so he and Petey came over, Petey riding on the back of the truck thinking he is King of the road. Belle knew better, Petey is Lazy. Cause she kept the cows in the pasture while Daniel unloaded the hay. The chicken hen hatched out more Guines. She only let Belle come close, but chased the other hens away. Belle is rethinking liking Guines.
