Jewell and Helen Ellerman and friends, Mary Tomblinson and daughter, Veronica Baker, had dinner at Golden Coral in Springfield Saturday, May 8, for Mother’s Day.

Madaalyn’s Kitchen, south of Schell City will be closed Saturday, May 29 through Monday, May 31, for Memorial Day holiday. She is open usually Monday and Tuesday, closed on Wednesday and open Thursday through Sunday. She does serve breakfast on Sundays because she is getting things ready for her buffet.

Bob and Cheryl Ellerman of Edwards, spent Friday, May 21, in the home of Jewell and Helen Ellerman. They went to the cemeteries at Mount Vernon near Walker, Birdsong near Blackjack and the City Cemetery in El Dorado Springs. They all had dinner at Madalyn’s Kitchen.

Jerry and Karen Coy of Harwood attended graduation at Northeast Vernon County at Walker Saturday, May 16. Their granddaughter, Kylie Alexander, was one of the graduates and was Valedictorian of her class. Joey, Amiee, Hunter and Ivy Coy of Calhoune spent the weekend in the Coy home to attend graduation. Rex and Donna Harding of Oklahoma was also there to attend graduation. Kylie is the daughter of Bill and Alison (Coy) Alexander. A reception was held for Kylie at the Schell City Community Building. Kylie grew up in the Harwood area.

The Harwood Post Office is open Monday through Saturday 1:15-3:15 p.m. so people can get their mail, buy stamps and mail packages. The lobby is open 24 hours a day so people can get their mail out of their box.

I think we are having blackberry weather because it had been cool the last few days.
