Madalyn’s Kitchen, south of Schell City, will be closed on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17. She will close at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 25, after she serves breakfast. She will be closed on Saturday, June 30, for the Forth of July celebration in the Schell City Park that evening.

Bob and Cheryl Ellerman, of Edwards, spent Tuesday, May 29, in the home of Jewell and Helen Ellerman. They ate dinner at the Chinese Chef at Nevada and then Jewell had a doctor’s appointment. She is going to have to have hip surgery.

Church service was held at the Harwood Baptist Church Sunday, June 3. Brother Mike Dunivan’s sermon “Real Love” was taken from 1 John 4:7-12.

Joey, Amie and Hunter Coy, of Calhoun, spent the weekend in the home of his parents, Jerry and Karen Coy.

Orval Moore, who lived in the Harwood area all his like, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 30. Services were held Saturday, June 2, at the Schell City Baptist Church with burial at the Green Mound Cemetery near Harwood under the direction of Sheldon Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs.

The community Fourth of July celebration will be held at the Schell City Park on Saturday, June 30. The meat will be furnished. Everyone is to bring a side dish. It will start at 6:30. There will be fireworks at dark. Everyone is to being their lawn chairs.

The area had two really bad thunderstorms early Saturday morning, June 2. There was really bad wind, heavy rain and thunder and lightning. Some of the areas got around 11⁄2 inches of rain.
