Bob Ellerman and wife, Cheryl, and Helen Ellerman held a surprise birthday party for their mother, Jewell Ellerman’s 94th birthday on Friday, Oct. 2, at the low housing apartment office on 409 N. Grand. Hewell lives in one of the apartments. Others attending were Jim and Martha Waltrip of Nevada; Joey Bylam of Walker; Arletta Wilson of Rich Hill; Mary Tomblinson, Veronica and Casey, Scott Berning, Linda McCormick, Ann Jackson, Mildred Williamson, Dorothy Volsch, Sherry Althoff, Daniel Meek, Marshall Cauthon, Julie Eason, John Dawson, Don Smith and Dorlis Roley, all of El Dorado Springs. Joey and Veronica helped in the decorating. Cake, ice cream and punch were served. Jewell received several cards and gifts for 94 years of age. Jewell is really in good health. She does not take any medicine. She enjoys going to church and playing bingo. She also enjoys word find puzzles. She still does a lot of the cleaning in the apartment.

Bob and Cheryl Ellerman of Edwards, Helen and Jewell Ellerman and Mary Tomblinson had dinner at Madalyn’s Kitchen, south of Schell City for Jewell’s 94th birthday Friday, Oct. 2.

Madalyn’s Kitchen, south of Schell City, will start having her Sunday buffet on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. She will furnish gloves for people to put on when they go to the buffet. They will have to have a clean glove every time they go back to the buffet. She will not have breakfast on Sunday morning. She will be open on Saturday until 2 p.m. and will be open at her regular time during the week except for Wednesday when she is closed. She says she had a large crowd for her steak dinner Sunday, Oct. 4.

The Harwood Post Office is open Monday through Saturday from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. so people can get their mail, buy stamps and mail packages. The lobby is open 24 hours a day so people can get their mail out of their box.
