What’s Going On in Washington—This week, I had the honor of joining parents and advocates at the Parents for School Options event in Washington, D.C.—and I left more convinced than ever that the future of education must be driven by families, not bureaucracies.

I got to see what real engagement in democracy looks like: moms, dads, and grandparents who refuse to sit on the sidelines. They are showing up, asking tough questions, and demanding to be heard about something that matters most: the education of their children.

Let me be clear: House Republicans hear you, and we stand with you on expanding school choice.

School choice is often made more complicated than it needs to be. At its core, it is simple: no child should be trapped in a failing school because of their ZIP code.

Parents should have the freedom to choose the learning environment that best fits their child’s needs.

Families across Missouri tell me the same thing over and over again: they want options, accountability, and results. They want to know their children are getting the strongest possible education, not stuck in a one-size-fits-all system.

We should trust parents with decisions about their children’s future. No one is more invested, more informed, or more committed to a child’s success than their own family.

As we look ahead to America’s 250th anniversary, we have an opportunity to renew a basic American promise: that where a child starts in life should not determine where they finish. Education should be about opportunity, mobility, and possibility.

House Republicans will continue working to ensure that every child, in every ZIP code, has access to a quality education that prepares them for the future they deserve.
