One of my priority measures was heard in committee this week. Senate Bill 736 seeks to increase the limit on investments in linked deposits by the Missouri State Treasurer. It was heard before the Missouri Senate Insurance and Banking Committee, which I chair.

The MO BUCKS/Linked Deposit Program is a statutorily created lending program managed by State Treasurer Vivek Malek. The program strives to expand and strengthen Missouri communities by working with Missouri Banking Institutions to provide low-interest loans to qualified borrowers for business enhancement, growth and development. Small Businesses and agriculture are amongst many of the program categories.

The MO BUCKS/ Linked Deposit Program has been assisting communities throughout the state since 1985. SB 736 increases the amount the State Treasurer can invest Linked Deposits from $800 million to $1.2 billion.

I will keep you up to date on this, and all of my priority legislation, as session progresses.
