Citizens of the 125th District,

The first half of session is over this week and we have “Spring Break” this coming week.  We will come back March 22nd for the last 8 weeks of session.  It’s incredible what I have learned in the past 2 months and look forward to what will be learned in the next 2!

I have jumped in the process of legislating and my bill, HB 443 was heard in committee and passed out unanimously. It went to Rules and was passed out and is now on the speakers desk, with hope that it will be heard on the house floor the week we come back from spring break.  It pertains to local cemeteries and the monies they have in their trust funds and how it can be spent.

It was our busiest week as many bills were coming out of committees and hitting the house floor.  We 3rd read and passed, which means they now go to the Senate, 19 bills this week. I won’t bore you with all of them, but some of interest to people in the 125th district are:

HB 578 repealed the provision of cars manufactured in even/odd years be renewed in even/odd years, you can renew them when it is best for you.

HB 624 establishes the “Show Me Success Diploma Program”. This allows high performing students who want to move on to college or a technical school after their 10th grade year.

HB 948 extended the Meat Processing Facility Investment Tax Credit to December 31st, 2027.  This provides jobs and increased beef processing in the state.

HB 151 allows school districts to share a superintendent.  Some additional money is given to the district and between that and what they save by sharing, it is directed that that money be spent on teachers or counselors.

It is an honor and a privilege to be here in Jefferson City representing each of you in the 125th district.  If there is anything I can ever help you with or you want to share your opinion on some upcoming legislation, please don’t hesitate to call or come by if you are in our State Capitol.
