The El Dorado Springs City Council set the tax levy for El Dorado Springs at $1.0342 with a projected tax revenue of $323,500. It was approved by all councilmen present – Mayor Brad True, Jim Luster, Nick Bland and Randy Bland. Councilman Jerry Baldwin was absent. City Manager Bruce Rogers and City Clerk Lisa Allison were also present.

During the Public Forum, J.R. Stroer informed the council of a property on Radio Lane that a lot of junk in the front yead. Stroer said he had talked with Animal Control/ Code Compliance Officer Jennipher Buller several weeks ago and knows she has talked with the residents at least twice about cleaning-up. Stroer also said that there was a vehicle with an out-of-state license parked along the street that hasn’t moved in about two months. He also said there was a lot of late night activity, specifically between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. at the residence. He added that the grass was tall. Rogers said he would check into it.

Glenda Baker stated that the next Community Clean-up Day is tentatively set for Aug. 24 and asked if the city could schedule a bulky trash pick-up for the next week. Rogers agreed to check the schedule..

Rogers said the Sidewalk to the Future project is 99.5% complete. He said it should be completed this week and ready for MoDot to inspect.

Rogers said that during routine maintenance Well #3, behind the bowling alley location was identified as having ground water leak in the casing at about 46 – 47 ft. The well has been shut down The pump and the casing are 14 years old and close to the end of their life span. Rogers is looking at what can be done to salvage the well and the casing. One option is to insert a smaller liner and grout around it. Another is to use a new type of carbon fiber liner The third is to drill a new well at a cost of about $250,000. Rogers is talking to engineers for interviews about this well project and painting the tower at the nursing home next year.

The council went into executive session to discuss real estate. There was no report from that session.
