Updated candidate filing list released in Cedar County

An updated list of candidates who have filed for the August 4, 2026, Primary Election in Cedar County has been released, showing two contested races at the county level so far as the March 31 filing deadline approaches.

According to the latest candidate proofing report, several individuals have filed for county offices.

In the race for Cedar County Presiding Commissioner, incumbent Republican Kenneth Thornton and Republican Roger Hamby have both filed.

For Cedar County Clerk, the candidates are Jennifer K. Laabs, Republican, and Chrislynn Price, Republican.

Lisa Nelson, Republican, has filed for Collector of Revenue, while Carla Lowe, Republican, has filed for Cedar County Treasurer.

In the race for Prosecuting Attorney, Nicole L. Barrett, Republican, has filed, and Melissa Heskett, Republican, has filed for Recorder of Deeds.

For Associate Circuit Judge, Republican Jacob Dawson has filed.

Sarah Turner, Republican, has filed for Clerk of the Circuit Court.
