Last Monday, March 23, the local VFW Post 257 held their annual banquet and awards ceremony for students from area schools.
The first recognized were students from El Dorado Christian Middle School, Roscoe Middle School and El Dorado Springs Middle School; 6th – 8th graders who participated in the Patriots Pen program. Award winners received a certificate, a medal and cash: first place – $100 and $50 from the Auxiliary, 2nd place $75 and 25 from the Auxiliary and third place $50 and $100 from the Auxiliary.
The Voice of Democracy program is for students 9th to 12th grade. Award winners received a certificate, medal and cash” first place $100 and $50 from the auxiliary, second place $75 and $50 from the Auxiliary and third place $50 AND $10 from the Auxiliary. Contestants were from the El Dorado Christian School, El Dorado Springs High School and Stockton High School.
These students not only represent their communities, their schools, their teachers and their parents, but they represent the future.
These are the leaders of tomorrow. They will take that task on ad do a great job.
Our future is in good hands.

ELDO HIGH SCHOOL – 3rd place – Hannah Seitz; 2nd place – Annabelle Dittmann; 1st place – Tirzah Pietersen.
STOCKTON HIGH SCHOOL – 3rd place – Lydia Bahr; 2nd place – Cuper Duncan; 1st place – Gracie Abercrombie.
ELDO CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL – 3rd place – Kaidyn Asmus; 2nd place – Jackson Bland; 1st place – Isaac Hubbard.
ELDO CHRISTIAN MIDDLE SCHOOL – 3rd place – Sadie Watkins; 2nd place – Laura Purtle; 1st place – Josie Wyant (not present).
ROSCOE MIDDLE SCHOOL – 3rd place – Jellian Gundaya; 2nd place – Johnathan Bauman; 1st place – Oaklie Hooper.
