The Wonder City of West Central Missouri is now illuminated from Spring Park to Main Street, Highway 32 and US Highway 54 for the holiday season.

The festive atmosphere of El Dorado Springs doesn’t just happen by itself. It takes a number of people to coordinate and update the lights and decorations.

Last month the chamber and city partnered to replace Christmas lights along US Highway 54 and Highway 32 with new festive candy canes and Christmas trees. Chamber members and the community came together to support that effort. Again, thanks to Toshua McCormick for spearheading that collection.

For a couple of years we have discussed bandstand decoration. In year’s past the bandstand had been the focal point of Spring Park’s holiday decor. However, in recent years we noticed that the roof had more of a “black hole” effect, especially in photos.

Chamber board member Toshua McCormick (State Farm Insurance) and husband Jeremi McCormick (Night & Day Renovations) met with assistant chamber director Peggy Snodgrass and chamber CEO Jackson Tough at Spring Park on Thursday, November 12th to survey what could be done with the structure. Jeremi has been decorating the Stockton square rooflines for a couple of years and developed a design for the El Do bandstand. Chamber CEO Jackson Tough said “we had a little funding left over from previous decorative light projects from a couple of years ago and decided to use those funds to make our bandstand really shine for the holidays. We had hoped it would be a surprise for folks attending the Lighting Celebration.”

The new bandstand decorations include 4,932 feet of wiring and 8,500 total bulbs which include wide angle LED cool white twinkle lights on the roof, pure white icicle drops along the roof line and red wide angle LED lights along the columns. The chamber of commerce invested just under $1,000 in the project.

Tough continued “we appreciate Riley Julian, Joe Robison and the city utilities and parks department for their help in placing our community’s Christmas decorations and lighting.”
