Editor:
As you are well aware we are in another public health crisis. COVID-19 has taken the headlines for weeks now. Plus Missouri is seeing an unprecedented number of Hepatitis A cases, mumps and sexually transmitted infections.
Public health has been on the front lines of these crises while still trying to perform the regular daily duties of WIC, immunizations, environmental health, vital records, nursing and more.
Without a specified local monies to support these services, public health departments have their hands tired.
Missouri ranks 50th in the nation for the amount of state funds dedicated to public health. That is why it is so vital that local revenues are available to continue the work of public health.
I hope the voters in Cedar County understand the importance of having regular health inspections for food establishments, septic installations, being able to obtain birth/death records, getting regular and season immunizations, serving Women, Infants and Children through the WIC program locally.
I would encourage every voter to support Cedar County in their efforts to keep Cedar County a healthy county.
Respectfully,
