To the Taxpayers of Cedar County,
It has come to our attention that some taxpayers recently received a letter containing incorrect information regarding the denial of their SB 190 Senior Citizen Property Tax Freeze application.
If you were denied the SB 190 Senior Freeze, it was based on the statutory requirements as outlined by the Missouri Legislature-and the Ordinance set by the Cedar County Commission. Unfortunately, the letter you may have received did not accurately reflect this process.
For further clarification or to voice your concerns, we encourage you to contact the Cedar County Commission, (417) 276-6700 Ext 240, as they are the appropriate governing body to address questions regarding this legislation and its application. As stated in the letter you may have received it states to contact the Assessor’s Office for “Clarification”. The Assessor’svOffice cannot “Clarify” since it was not involved in the approvalldenid process. The Assessor is required to provide the assessed values for 2024 and 2025 to the Collector and if there was any new construction to the property. In essence this is what the state requires the Assessor to do daily, RSMo l37.115.
We understand how important this matter is to our senior taxpayers, and we remain committed to ensuring that all applications are handled fairly, consistently, and in compliance with Missouri law and Cedar County Ordinance.
Thank you for your understanding, and please do not hesitate to reach out to the Assessor’s Office if you have questions regarding your property assessment.
Respectully,
County of Cedar
