Celebrate Kids to Parks Day Saturday, May 20, at Thousand Hills State Park.

From 8:30 a.m. to noon, kids can join the Missouri Department of Conservation for a morning of fishing at the marina. This will be held concurrently with the 40th Annual Buddy Bass Fishing Classic. Kids are also eligible to participate in that free event. For both events, volunteers must be available with gear to help kids fish or to fish with them. Fishing is open to all ages and children must be accompanied by an adult.

At 11 a.m., kids are invited to go on a nature detective hike, joining the park team as they explore the many different clues animals leave behind. Find out which animals share the park. The hike will take place on Oak Trail, starting near the playground on Big Loop Trail Road.

Weather permitting, the events will be held at Thousand Hills State Park, 20431 State Highway 157 in Kirksville, at the amphitheater in campground 1. For more information, call 660-665-6995 or watch the Thousand Hills State Park Facebook page for cancellations, location changes and other park information.
