Ha Ha Tonka State Park will be hosting a series of events to help families kick off the month of June and get a proper start to the summer break.

Children’s story time

Join the park team Thursday mornings in June and July for Children’s Story Time. Each week, team members will read a short nature-themed story before doing a craft activity. All readings will take place in the park’s visitor center at 9:30 a.m.

Nature bingo

Ha Ha Tonka State Park will host an evening of Nature Bingo Friday, June 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Have fun playing nature-themed bingo while learning about the amazing plants and animals that live here in Missouri. Plan to meet at 7 p.m. in the park’s visitor center.

Wildflower walk

All are welcome to join the park naturalist to hike Acorn Trail and discover the beautiful flowers blooming along the path Saturday, June 3. Will the bright violets be your favorite flower? Or, will the mighty leaves of prairie dock impress you more? Come explore these plants and much more. Meet at the Turkey Pen parking lot at 10 a.m.

Be sure to bring your own bug spray, sunscreen and water. Acorn trail is 0.9 miles long. To get to the Turkey Pen parking lot from Highway 54, turn onto state Road D. Once on Highway D, drive 2.2 miles and Turkey Pen parking lot will be on the left.

Join the Lake Area Community Orchestra on the west castle lawn at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, at Ha Ha Tonka State Park.

To get to the castle, turn onto state Road D off of U.S. Highway 54. Follow state Road D for approximately 1.8 miles and then turn right onto Castle Ruins Road.
