Learn about Prohibition in Cedar County

The Cedar County Historical Society will present a program, “Prohibition in Cedar County,” about 1920 thru 1933, Cedar County court cases involving the ban on production, importation, transportation and sale of alcohol in the United States.

There was more illegal activity in Cedar and surrounding counties during that time than you would have guessed. Leslie James, Field Archivist for the Mo. State Archives, has done extensive research on Cedar County court records to discover our true past. She will tell us about surrounding county cases that were heard in Cedar County. Who knows, there may be a skeleton in our family’s closet.

The program and slideshow will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28,  in the Cedar County Historical Society Museum, located at 106 West Davis St. in Stockton. The museum is located one block north of the square to Davis St. and one block west, across from the telephone building. Our regular monthly Historical Society meeting will follow the program.
