Have you ever come across a track, heard a sound or see an odd object that left you scratching your head? Exploring outdoors can leave your imagination running. The more time we spend outdoors the better equipped we become on solving those mysteries. Using nature apps like iNaturalist and Seek can help you solve some of those unknowns. Why not purposefully turn a family hike into a mini adventure by setting a goal of finding certain things? For little ones, it could be a color hike, use a box of crayons to make it tangible and challenging. For older kids make it about the alphabet or collect different shaped leaves this fall. Use your phone to capture pictures or use a nature journal to record your findings. Scavenger hunts are an exciting way to get children exploring the natural world. They are also a great way to add fun to family walks.
