Alvin Leroy Murrell, 90, born Sept. 16, 1930, to Warren Mitchell Murrell and Verla Gregory Murrell.

He worked on a farm until he went into the army in 1952, and served in Germany until 1954. After that he was transferred to the Army Reserve. He married Shirley Hess in 1954. Two sons were born to this union, Steve and Wayne. Alvin worked at the St. Joseph State Hospital then moved to the El Dorado Springs area where he had a plumbing business with Alden Hess. In the 1980’s and 90’s, he worked as a Developmental Assistant I at the Nevada Habilitation Center and retired from there in 1993.

He married Frances Burton in 1989, to which his daughter, Verla was born. He raised two stepsons, John and Michael Burton.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Murrell; sons, Steve and Wayne; daughter, Verla; and stepsons, John and Michael Burton; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Alvin Leroy Murrell was held  Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Clintonville Cemetery with Rev. Brent Bland officiating under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
