Brenda Ann (Leonard) Compton, 54, was born Nov. 27, 1966, to Jim and Ruth Leonard. She left this world unexpectedly on Sept. 27, 2021.

Brenda lived her childhood in El Dorado Springs and graduated from EHS in 1984 at semester, having met all graduation requirements. The next day she moved to Springfield to be with the love of her life, James. Brenda was a natural born caretaker. She thrived on taking care of others, as proven in her various career choices, such as babysitter, hotel housekeeper, and for the last 18 years at Mercy Health. Of course those she enjoyed caring for most were her precious grandchildren whom were the center of her life.

Brenda was an outgoing happy person who enjoyed life. Her laugh was contagious. A couple of weeks ago James and Brenda had the blessed opportunity to go on one last trip to the ocean. They were able to relax, laugh and enjoy one another’s company on this one last adventure together for which James is so grateful.

Preceding Brenda in death were Ray and Hazel Leonard, Alvin and Fern Mooney and Danny Compton.

Left behind to mourn her passing is her husband of 30 years, three months, 29 days, James Compton; children, Dustyn (Maggie) Compton,  Levi Compton and Nic Compton; grandchildren, Lyllian, Jaxson, EllaBelle, Jaymes and Amelia. Also left behind are her parents, Jim and Ruth Leonard; mother-in-law, Violet Compton; one brother, Dave (Tandi) Leonard; sister-in-law, Carmen Deragowski; two nephews, Landon (Sammie) Leonard and Jared Deragowski; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service for Brenda Compton was held Saturday, Oct. 2, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
