Callaway Eugene Minnix, 81, peacefully passed away on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, in his home in El Dorado Springs with his family by his side.

Callaway moved to El Dorado Springs after retiring from his job in San Diego, CA.  Callaway was born Nov. 19, 1934, in Lackey, KY, the son of Callaway and Draxie Minnix.

Callaway married Ruby (McMillen) on June 6, 1957. They were married for 59 years before Callaway’s passing.

To their union four children were born. Callaway lived his entire married life as a dedicated husband and father, even during the time he spent in the Navy as a chief. Callaway served his country proudly for 30 years.  He enjoyed his life and his family.

He was a wonderful man that enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, avidly participating in the lottery, and spending time with his family.

Preceding Callaway in death were his parents, Callaway and Draxie Minnix, one sister, Dallas Rose Minix, one brother, Doug Wells, and daughter, Linda Parker.

Survivors include: wife of 59 years, Ruby, and his three children – Dallas Minnix of Springfield, Robert Minnix and wife, Ann, of San Diego, CA, Jessie Collins and husband Gary of Springfield; five brothers – Leslie Daniel, Jack Daniel, John Daniel, James Daniel and Clinton Minix; two sisters, Charlotte Daniels and Draxie Daniel; grandchildren –  Patrick Parker, Austin and Autumn Branscome, Josiah and Jannah Minnix, James Minnix, Robert Allen Minnix, and Alfonso and Trisha Camberos; and great-grandchildren, Hayden and Macie Camberos.

Graveside services for were held on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, in the El Dorado City Cemetery with military honors.  Arrangements were under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
